2. The Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA)

The global organisation known as ACCA, or the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, grants students the title of “Certified Chartered Accountant.”

Duration: Your education level determines how long the ACCA will take. For instance, if you have completed your 12th grade, the course will last for three years; a commerce graduate will study for two to five years; IPCC (both groups) will study for two years; and a B.Com. would study for one year. The ACCA qualifying requirements are the same at all of India’s top ACCA institutes.

Eligibility Criteria : To be eligible for the ACCA certification, a candidate must be at least 18 years old, hold a minimum 10+2 degree, and have an overall grade point average of 65% in either accounting or mathematics and English, as well as a minimum of 50% in all other chosen disciplines.

Students who are pursuing a degree in commerce or a business-related field, such as BCom, BBA, or BMS, are also qualified for the ACCA programme and may combine the two degrees.

  

3. Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

4. Company Secretary (CS)

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is the only recognized professional body in India to develop and regulate the profession of Company Secretaries in India. It is a premier national professional body set up under an act of Parliament, the Company Secretaries Act, 1980. ICSI functions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. ICSI has been contributing to the initiatives of Government of India that have potential to excel the social-economic growth of India.

The course “Company Secretary” or more popularly known as CS, is a 3-year course that mentors students to handle the legal aspects of a firm including tax returns and record keeping.

5. Master’s in Business Administration (MBA)

1. JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION (JEE)

4. COMMON UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE TEST (CUET)

In order to get admission into undergraduate programme in central university, Common University Entrance Test is now being introduced under the Ministry of Education. This exam will give students a common platform and equal opportunities to excel in their respective fields. Moreover, the exam also helps in enhancing the connections between different universities.

The Common University Entrance Test is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). The NTA role is constricted to registration of candidates, conduction of examination, hosting of answer keys, finalizing answer keys, and preparing and declaring results and providing score cards. However, in order to get admission into universities/colleges, merit list will be prepared by them.

While applying for CUET, A candidate has the choice to pick any language/domain specific subject/ general test, or a combination of all these sections, however, it also depends upon the specific course and the desired university the candidate wishes to enroll.

 

5. COMMON ADMISSION TEST (CAT)

To get admission into various prominent business colleges/schools, it is mandatory for students to appear for Common Admission Test. Every Year, this test is conducted by IIM’s (Indian Institute of Management) on a rotatory basis.

Eligibility Criteria

Student having the Bachelor Degree of any discipline, is eligible to appear for Common Admission Test, However, the candidate has to score at least 50 % marks in their qualified stream.

Duration of test: 180 Minutes

Pattern of Examination: The paper comprises of 100 questions, and have 3 parts, namely: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning; Quantitative Aptitude, and Verbal and Reading Comprehension.

Admission Procedure

It is important to note that each IIM has an authority to make their own eligibility criteria and follow different selection procedure. However, performance in Common Admission Test is an extremely important component during the selection process. For more information, student has to refer the admission procedures of individual IIM’s on their respective websites

 

6. UNIVERSITY GRANT COMMISION (UGC) – National Eligibility Test

Earlier, the NET was administered by CBSE in 84 topics across 91 cities, but from December 2018, the UGC-NET is being National Testing Agency.

The student’s overall performance in Paper-I and Paper-II of the UGC-NET will indicate whether they are offered a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/or whether they are eligible for an assistant professorship. The awarding of JRF is not to be given to candidates who simply fulfill the criteria for assistant professorship.

Mode of Examination: Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only

Pattern of Examination: This exam comprises of two papers, however, both papers have multiple choice questions

This paper aims to evaluate teaching/research aptitude of an individual. Questions related to reasoning ability, reading comprehension divergent thinking and general awareness will be there.

Medium of question paper: The medium of question paper will be in English and Hindi only.

Marking Scheme: Each question is of 2 marks, and there will be no negative marking for wrong answers. It is important to note that no marks will be given if, questions unanswered, or marked for review.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates who earned a Master’s degree or an equivalent degree in the humanities and social sciences (including languages), computer science and applications, electronic science, etc. from universities or institutions recognized by the are eligible to take this test.

A candidate can also apply for this test, if he or she is pursuing his/her Master degree or equivalent degree, and he/she is in the final year of their master degree, and also candidates who are waiting for their results. However, such students will be considered eligible for award of JRF/eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they have passed their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination with at least 55% score.

7. GRADUATE APTITIUDE TEST IN ENGINEERING (GATE)

A national-level exam that emphasizes on evaluating candidate’s comprehensive understanding of numerous undergraduate disciplines in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts

Qualified GATE score will be used for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to the following programmes:

  • Master’s courses and Doctoral programs in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts;
  • Doctoral programs in appropriate branches of Arts and Science, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government organisations.

Mode of Examination: Computer Based Test

Duration of Test: 3 Hours

Type of questions in the questions paper: Multiple choice questions; Multiple select questions, Numerical answer type questions

Marking Scheme: Questions carry 1 mark and 2 marks

Negative Marking: In Multiple choice questions, there will be negative marking. For 1 mark question, if candidate chose wrong answer, then 1/3 mark will be deducted.

For 2 marks question, if candidate chose wrong answer, then 2/3 mark will be deducted.

However, for multiple select questions, and for numerical answer type questions, there will be no negative marking.
